Nature’s Masterpieces amongst the Texas Wildflowers
Nature creates the most beautiful masterpieces.
As an artist, I’m simply here to translate that beauty onto canvas, capturing not just the colors, but the feeling of standing in a field of wildflowers swaying in the breeze.
There’s something magical about how each flower adds its own unique voice to nature’s symphony. Just like in life, it’s our differences that create the most beautiful harmonies. ?
What speaks to your soul in nature?

“Nature’s Brushstrokes” diptych painting by Niki Gulley
Just sold through The Good Art Company Gallery! I love it when we are driving through the countryside and we come across a gorgeous field of wildflowers. The sudden burst of color thrills your senses! I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of this brilliant carpet of red. Making sure not to over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature. Repeating patterns and waves of color create a harmony within the painting, while rendering the blooms and their surroundings abstractly plays with taking a traditional subject matter and showing it in a contemporary way.

New “Autumn Brushstrokes” Palette Knife Painting by Asheville Artist Niki Gulley
12″ x 12″ textured acrylic on canvas panel
Can you feel nature’s energy as cooling autumn breezes dance through the vibrant foliage? As leaves start to fall, glimpses of the distance peeks and valleys shine through and your journey is illuminated with gorgeous mountain views. Incorporating bold, broad, skipping strokes add to that feeling of joy and rejuvenation while thick, chunky texture brings this sculptural painting to life.
It’s not just about what you see, but what you can feel
It’s not just about what you see, but what you can feel – that’s why I love how the raised paint catches light and creates shadows, making the artwork come alive from every angle. ?
Interesting fact: These textured strokes aren’t just visual – they allow my blind father to ‘see’ my paintings through touch, adding another dimension to how art can be experienced. ?

Nature’s Inspiration by Palette Knife Artist Niki Gulley
There’s something magical about protecting your studio time. When nothing interrupts the flow, stories emerge through color and texture that I never expected. What time of day do you feel most inspired? ?
