With such a rich kaleidoscope of hues from the Texas wildflowers, I am like a kid in a candy store every time I go out. The interplay of color between the Indian Paintbrush, Bluebonnets and assorted other wildflowers allows me to stretch the spectrum in this natural palette.

One of my goals when we planted our flower garden, was to give me an opportunity to be able to paint nature without leaving home. With everything that is going on this year, it proved to be the prefect solution for getting outside while still maintaining social distancing. I hope this Iris adds a little joy and color to your day!

My purple irises have such an amazing depth of color this spring. It seems even richer when it is contrasted against the lacy white edges of the bloom. With this blossom, I decided to focus on a birds-eye view above the Iris so that you could see its beauty from a new perspective. If you’re interested in purchasing this painting and seeing a close up of its thick texture, just follow this link https://www.nikigulley.com/iris-on-parade-2/ ?.

After two years of mediocre results, this year my irises really took off. Along with a great carpet of Bluebonnets this year, were the varied colors of Indian Paintbrush. I saw everything from orange to pink and red, as well of every color in-between. This provided a great contrast amid the rich blue hues.If you’re interested in purchasing this painting and seeing a close up of its thick texture, just follow this link https://www.nikigulley.com/texas-blue-3/.

We had one of those perfect years for bluebonnets, just enough water and the right temperatures to make for a bumper crop of flowers. I traveled down to the hill country earlier this year and out to Ennis just recently in order to capture them in all of their dazzling brilliance. If you’re interested in purchasing this painting and seeing a close up of its thick texture, just follow this link https://www.nikigulley.com/texas-blue-2/.

Just Sold! “Spring’s Majesty,” Texas Hill Country – Bluebonnet painting by Niki Gulley

“Spring’s Majesty, Texas Hill Country” ©2014 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 18″ x 36″ textured painting
“Spring’s Majesty” was inspired by a trip to the Texas Hill Country when the bluebonnets were in full splendor. While we were near Fredericksburg, we took a scenic drive along the Willow City Look and as we approached the top of a hill about half way around, we were greeted by this gorgeous view of the rolling hills colored with bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush in full bloom. Then, to top it off the sun was setting in the distance casting its golden glow and backlighting the wildflowers. I had to capture the magical moment, enhancing the kaleidoscope of colors in the sky and along the ground. Arranging clouds, the road and rows of bluebonnets in rhythmic sweeping shapes, create a harmonious landscape that flows with light, texture and color, and suggest a feeling of optimism about what’s to come.

“Spring’s Majesty” was available through the Good Art Company gallery, goodartcompany.com/gac/.
