New “Heaven Sent” Uplifting Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Heaven Sent” ©2021 Niki Gulley
24″ x 34″ textured mixed media painting on 3/4″ canvas with the painting wrapping around the edges
In this painting I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up in into the treetops and heavens above. Choosing uplifting autumn tones contrasted against a soft blue sky, gentle clouds drift by as the sun peeks through casting its magical light on everything it touches and lifting your spirits. Arranging the trees in a circular pattern gives you a sense of laying on the ground, surrounded by the forest and directs your eye to hope’s focal point. Utilizing thick, energetic paint strokes adds to that joyful, playful feeling of promise and discovery.

“Lone Star Blooms” Bluebonnet Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

“Lone Star Blooms” ©2020 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 30″ x 40″ textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

Just Sold through the Good Art Company Gallery!

In this painting, I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of our bluebonnets and vibrant wildflowers flowing along the grassy rises and falls of our berms in the Texas Hill Country. Making sure not to over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature. Repeating patterns and waves of color create a harmony within the painting, while rendering the blooms slightly abstract plays with taking a traditional subject matter and showing it in a contemporary way.

“Standing Witness” Palette Knife Aspen Painting by Niki Gulley

“Standing Witness”©2021 Niki Gulley
16″ x 20″ textured oil painting

Recently, we visited Santa Fe and to escape the heat we ventured up the Santo de Cristo mountains to cool down among the beautiful, refreshing aspen trees. I was attracted to this grove in particular with their beautiful textured white bark and their proximity and angles to each other. I decided to include the sentinels behind, also, to give you a sense of being surrounded by the peaceful forest. Dappled light casts diagonal shadows and causes the grasses to dance and sparkle. I hope you can feel the serenity of this rejuvenating place.

“Red Carpet Ride” Texas Wildflower Painting by Niki Gulley

“Red Carpet Ride” ©2020 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 24″ x 36″ textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

Just Sold through the Good Art Company! In this Texas wildflower series, I wanted to capture the excitement and energy felt during a beautiful day in April when the Indian Paintbrush, bluebonnets and wildflowers are painting the horizon in gorgeous shades of reds and blues. Driving through the Hill Country late one day, the sun was just starting to drop, casting this golden hue across all of the wildflowers it hit causing them to glow and dance in the warm light. Deep, long shadows and the abundance of rich crimson Indian Paintbrush added to the drama and magic of the moment. Focusing on the patterns of color and contrast of lights and darks, I wanted to communicate the emotion felt being surrounded by all of this Texas beauty.
