Just sold through The Statton Art Gallery! I wanted this piece to be uplifting and full of color and energy. The sun sets on the horizon, casting its beautiful glow across golden petals while perky, circular faces smile back at you. I kept procrastinating because of our 106 degree heat, but everyday when I’d look out the window, the sunflowers in my garden would be calling me! So, I finally gave in this week, set the alarm for 6 am (which my husband dearly loved) and started painting at first light and the coolest part of the day at 88 degrees. It was worth it! The golden beauties are just so cheerful and colorful, that I almost got lost enough in the process of capturing them that I forgot about the sweltering discomfort – almost!

Yeah! The weather is finally dipping below 100º so I am taking full advantage of the momentary cooler temperatures, and capturing these cheerful sunflowers and colorful blooms in my garden. I love the vibrant display of hues and how the sun was illuminating these beauties from behind causing them to glow. Painting such cheer really brightened up my day, and I hope they do the same for you!
