In this painting I wanted to create a dream-like feel using one of my favorite flowers, the poppy. There is something awe-inspiring about the transformation of a single dainty flower into a dense explosion of vibrant, energetic crimson that delights your senses and lifts your spirits. Arranging the wildflower masses in the foreground to create waves of color and repeating those curving shapes throughout the landscape add to a sense of joyful harmony and tranquility.

I absolutely love it when I come across a whole field of wildflowers – there is something about the transformation of a single dainty flower into a dense explosion of color that inspires awe and delights your senses. I liked how these rows of poppies and rolling grasses created a gentle harmony, inviting you to wander into the distance, getting lost in the moment. I wanted to capture the rhythm, color and harmony of prolific wildflowers flowing along this blossoming hillside. Set beneath a colorful sky with happy clouds drifting by on a beautiful day in springtime, Texas joy is in full bloom. Making sure to not over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature, Colorful Two Step is loaded with texture, vibrant hues and movement. Ruby red poppies and cobalt bluebonnets lead your eye into the distance, inviting you to stroll amongst the gorgeous display and feel their energetic beat.
