I find being immersed in nature can have such an uplifting effect, and I wanted to share that feeling with you in Woodland Adventure. I chose pure, intense reds and yellows contrasted against autumn greens to create a fall forest that vibrates with color and energy. I placed the vivid foliage in diagonal sweeping shapes to create a sense of movement, so that you can feel the wind gently rustling the leaves and causing them to dance on a beautiful fall day.

Just sold! I love it when my collectors share their photos with me. My painting looks so vibrant and cheerful in her office. I’m so glad she is loving it – that is the best reward for an artist!

In this series, I wanted to create pieces that are full of joy, energy, texture and light. Working on oversized canvases and painting the blossoms larger than life add to that feeling of hope and exuberance. Choosing to leave the background airy and working with thick layers of white on white paint, ribbons of brightly colored blooms dance across the canvas with spontaneity and freedom. Subconsciously, I feel like these light-filled visions came to me in response to so much bad news and the COVID lockdown. Searching for a way to create more space, room to roam and the freedom to live life to its fullest, I hope these paintings bring the beauty of nature inside and fill your spirit with light and cheer.

I absolutely love it when I come across a whole field of wildflowers – there is something about the transformation of a single dainty flower into a dense explosion of color that inspires awe and delights your senses. Just Sold! Surrounded by a sea of blue – Scott captured me in my element here! Not only were the bluebonnets and wildflowers magnificent this year, but I just adore the live oaks, too. Their massive stature, their gnarly, twisting branches and the umbrella of shade they cast, just make me want to paint them over and over again. Leaving bluebonnets large and prominent in the foreground, rows and rows of cobalt lift your spirits and lead you back to the shelter of the grand old oak. I hope you, too, can enjoy the beauty of Texas in all of its spring glory.

Painting Glorious Poppy Fields with Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

Surrounded by a sea of crimson, not only were the wildflowers magnificent this year, but I just adore old, giant trees, too. Their massive stature and their outstretched branches creating a beautiful canopy and much needed umbrella of shade, just make me want to paint them over and over again. Leaving poppies large and prominent in the foreground, rows and rows of ruby jewel-toned blooms lift your spirits and lead you back to the shelter of the grandfather tree. I hope you, too, can enjoy the beauty of this uplifting place in all of its spring glory.
