On this morning in Stowe, VT, we ventured up to the majestic overlook by the Von Trapp property to capture the spectacular scenery. I loved how this cabin was perfectly tucked into the mountainside surrounded by vibrant fall foliage. The slightly overcast day made the colors pop even more! Palette Knife Artist Niki Gulley Paints Asheville’s Darnell Farms

Painted on location, I?loved this old weathered barn. But, being a huge fan of the impressionists and their use of color, I was struggling with how to paint the scene with so much green grass surrounding the pastures. As I kept strolling around the farm, I came across these beautiful fuschia flowers and knew this is exactly what I?was looking for to bring joy and color to my painting. May this peaceful, nostalgic setting lift your spirtis, too!

Spreading their joy across the landscape, I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of beautiful, uplifting wildflowers in bloom. Starting with the first signs of spring when prolific bluebonnets carpet the hills, moving into May as vibrant poppies cast their merriment and energy, and finally transitioning into mid-summer when the amazing aromas of lavender fill the air. Dreamy light illuminates the sky and dances across the blanketed fields to bring nature’s glory, hope and serenity to your home.

Joyful Tulip Pastel Bursting with Color by Niki Gulley

I wanted to capture the joy I felt seeing these vibrant tulips signaling that winter was finally over and spring had begun! This piece is bursting with color and energy, just like the blooms were. Peering from above into the open vessels allows you to take in their beautiful red and yellow patterns. I hope these tulips brighten your day and lift your spirits, too.

Daffodils are symbols of spring and in many cultures their blooms kick off the start of many festivals. For me they just seem to make me happy. The petals appear to dance in the breeze with the colors inviting you in for a closer look. Their beauty is fleeting though, so I had to capture them quick before they faded out until next year.

Butterfly Landing on Elephant Ears Pastel by Niki Gulley

What a treat to find this little guy taking a break on these elephant ears at the Dallas Arboretum. The black and orange of this monarch butterfly caught my eye but the curves of the ears led me right to him. Vibrant yellows with a rainbow of colors fill the background.

Inspired by this gorgeous aspen grove, I wanted to capture the magical morning light casting its warm glow on the forest.
