SOLD • 36″ x 36″ textured mixed media on 1.5″ gallery wrap canvas with the painting continuing around the edges
Just sold! With such depressing news these days, I felt compelled to paint something that would make us feel much better. And, it worked on me, so I hope it does the same for you. I felt so much happier after painting this larger than life bluebonnet and Indian Paintbrush scene. Working with palette knife and a lot of texture, reveling in the process of flinging and pouring paint to create a joyful, kinetic kaleidoscope, and playing with a cheerful palette of reds, yellows and blues, I feel like this one really lifts one’s spirits and has a touch of whimsy to it.

“Looking Skyward” ©2024 Niki Gulley
30″ x 40″” textured mixed media on canvas
In this painting, I wanted you to you to experience the joy of looking up into the treetops – just like you did when you were a kid. Lying on the ground, not a care in the world, you gaze in wonderment. Choosing electric yellows and reds and flinging paint in multiple swirling layers add to that playful, childlike whimsy. I hope you are transported back to a happy, carefree time and place!

36″ x 60″ Textured Acrylic Painting on gallery wrap canvas with the painting continuing around the edges
Over the course of several weeks, I layered dreamy layer over dreamy layer of paint to give this piece sparkle and depth. Longing for a cool beach and the cathartic sounds of the ocean, I started with drippy, fluid paint and then built up thick textured strokes to bring the energy of the ocean’s waves to life. Slightly abstract, loose and free, I hope you can feel the healing qualities of the water and get lost in its mesmerizing rhythm.
