“Blue Valley” New Bluebonnet oil painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

“Blue Valley” ©2015 Niki Gulley
24″ x 12″ textured oil painting
I painted these Texas Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives to achieve depth and texture. The resulting image comes to life and is loaded with color and energy. In this vertical wildflower series, I’ve framed the paintings in espresso floater frames so that you can still see the textured oil paint continuing around the edges of the canvas. These Texas wildflowers look great hung alone or in a grouping, too!

Bluebonnet Palette Knife Painting by Niki Gulley – Just Sold!

“Spring Forth IV”  ©2015 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 24″ x 12″ textured mixed media on wrap around canvas
Just sold through the goodartcompany.com/gac/In this painting, I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of our bluebonnets and vibrant wildflowers flowing along the grassy rises and falls of the berms in the Texas Hill Country. Making sure not to over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature, Spring Forth is loaded with texture, color and movement. Dramatic clouds swoop down and lead your eye to the rolling fileds of distant wildflowers, while life-size foreground bluebonnets burst with dimension and grab your attention. Arranging the bluebonnets and distant clouds vertically are designed to lift your spirits and add joy to your home.
