New Bluebonnet Palette Knife Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

“April Rhythms,” Texas Hill Country ©2015 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 36″ x 36″ textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

JUST SOLD! In this painting, I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of our bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush and vibrant wildflowers flowing along the grassy rises and falls of our berms in the Texas Hill Country. Making sure not to over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature, April Rhythms is loaded with texture, color and movement. Repeating patterns, shapes and hues in the blooms, sky and distant mesquite trees unite foreground and background and add to the harmony of spring’s symphony.

New Aspen Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Reaching for the Heavens II” ©2015 Niki Gulley
40″ x 30″ textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

In this painting, I wanted you to you to experience the joy of looking up into the treetops – just like you did when you were a kid. Lying on the ground, not a care in the world, you gaze in wonderment as the clouds drift by. Choosing playful colors and thick chunky staccato strokes add to that childlike whimsy and I hope you are transported back to a happy, carefree time and place.

Niki Gulley at Cottonwood Art Festival in Richardson, TX this Weekend

“Blue Descent,” Texas Hill Country ©2014 Niki Gulley
24″ x 36″ textured oil painting

Inspired by a trip to the Texas hill country, I wanted you feel the warmth and beauty as sun sets over this carpet of bluebonnets and Texas wildflowers. Touched with a hint of mystery from the long shadows being cast and a sense of romanticism from the time of day and the two oaks reaching for one another, this piece is loaded with pigment and thick oil paint. In person, the painting leaps off the canvas and the colors almost dance from all of the texture and energy!

New “Highlands Sunset” Palette Knife oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Highlands Sunset” ©2014 Niki Gulley
12″ x 24″ textured oil painting

We came across this gorgeous sunset while visiting the Highlands in Scotland. Between the intense colors in the sky, the wide lake spreading before us and the enchanting hills in the distance, I just had to paint this scene. I chose a panorama format to give you a better feeling for its expansive beauty and peacefulness.
