“Kinetic Blues” Highly Textured Bluebonnet Painting by Niki Gulley

“Kinetic Blues” ©2024 Niki Gulley

SOLD • 36″ x 36″ textured mixed media on 1.5″ gallery wrap canvas with the painting continuing around the edges

Just sold! With such depressing news these days, I felt compelled to paint something that would make us feel much better. And, it worked on me, so I hope it does the same for you. I felt so much happier after painting this larger than life bluebonnet and Indian Paintbrush scene. Working with palette knife and a lot of texture, reveling in the process of flinging and pouring paint to create a joyful, kinetic kaleidoscope, and playing with a cheerful palette of reds, yellows and blues, I feel like this one really lifts one’s spirits and has a touch of whimsy to it.

“Daffodils” Contemporary Impressionistic Floral Pastel by Niki Gulley

“Daffodils” ©Niki Gulley
18″ x 24” pastel on paper

Daffodils are symbols of spring and in many cultures their blooms kick off the start of many festivals. For me they just seem to make me happy. The petals appear to dance in the breeze with the colors inviting you in for a closer look. Their beauty is fleeting though, so I had to capture them quick before they faded out until next year.

“Landing Zone” ©2024 Niki Gulley
32? x 26? framed size • pastel on board
Framed as shown in silver metal frame with off white mat • (will be shipped in frame for protection, but will probably need to be reframed)

What a treat to find this little guy taking a break on these elephant ears at the Dallas Arboretum.  The black and orange of this monarch butterfly caught my eye but the curves of the ears led me right to him. Vibrant yellows with a rainbow of colors fill the background.

Painting in the Texas Hill Country with Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Living History III” ©2023 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 24″ x 12″ textured acrylic painting on canvas

“For me, wildflowers are joy-giving. They have enriched my life and fed my soul and given beautiful memories to sustain me.”
– Lady Bird Johnson

Just Sold! Surrounded by a sea of blue – Scott captured me in my element here! Not only were the bluebonnets and wildflowers magnificent this year, but I just adore the live oaks, too. Their massive stature, their gnarly, twisting branches and the umbrella of shade they cast, just make me want to paint them over and over again. Leaving bluebonnets large and prominent in the foreground, rows and rows of cobalt lift your spirits and lead you back to the shelter of the grand old oak. I hope you, too, can enjoy the beauty of Texas in all of its spring glory.

E-mail Niki Gulley for more information on her textured palette knife landscape paintings.
