Painting Vineyards in Tuscany with Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

During our Tuscany Foodie Trek that my husband and I led, we headed to the wine town of Montalcino. I set up my easel at this gorgeous vineyard with its colorful grapevines turning beautiful oranges and golds with the cooling fall temperatures. Capturing the rows of grapes hugging the hills and leading you back to the villa perched in the distance, I hope you can taste the delicious wine and escape to Tuscany with me!

Tuscan Rose Garden Palette Knife Painting by Niki Gulley

What a delight as we checked into our B and B in Tuscany to discover that the grounds were surrounded by rose gardens. WOW! With such a plethora of beautiful blooms, it was really hard to narrow down what to paint. Finally I landed on these red, pink and white beauties with the Tuscan villa in the distance. Two chairs invite you to sit down, enjoy a glass of wine, relax and just enjoy the gorgeous scenery. Filled with joy and color, I hope you are transported to this serene escape.

“Portland Head Lighthouse” Palette Knife Painting by Niki Gulley

“Portland Head Lighthouse”
SOLD • 9″ x 12″ textured acrylic painting on canvas panel

After we left Acadia on our Fall Foliage Freedom Tour, we stopped in Portland, Maine to visit friends and Portland Head Lighthouse. The setting is so idyllic as it’s perched on a rocky cliff surrounded by the ocean. I thought I was setting up in an out of the way spot, but I ended up having quite the audience and an endless stream of photographers composing the scene!Even with the distractions, I still thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and hope you feel the beauty of this spot, too.

Painting Fall at the North Carolina Arboretum by Impressionist Niki Gulley

Today I joined the Asheville Plein Air Painters at the North Carolina Arboretum. While several of the trails were closed from the hurricane, the main gardens were open and it turned out to be a gorgeous afternoon. I loved the bright pops of color in their “mum quilt.” What a fantastic, welcoming group. I look forward to the next time I can join again! 9” x 12” textured acrylic painting on canvas panel

Being in the mountains, you never know what the weather is going to do. So with the threat of rain, I decided to stay right at our campsite underneath the awning just in case. And, why not when this is the view??? So many first responders were staying on the premises, coming and going, chatting while passing and I was pleased that I could add some brightness to their day. I hope this one lifts your spirits, too!

Painting Autumn in All Its Glory with Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

While hurricane Helene created such devastation in Asheville, we’ve been looking for scenery in the area that can lift your spirits. And, the explosion of vibrant fall color here does not disappoint! The maples are displaying their full autumn glory, so I had to capture those ruby reds for you. May this kids’ perspective bring you the joy of carefree days and hopes for a bright future.

Palette Knife Painter Niki Gulley Paints Covered Bridges

“Covered Drive” ©2024 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 9″  x 12″ textured acrylic painting on canvas panel

Just Sold! We have landed in New York, about an hour from Buffalo, in Scott’s hometown. The fall leaves are just barely turning colors and the temps are in the 70s. Beautiful!

Our first stop – Scott played a round of golf with old friends and since the grounds were so pretty, I decided to set up my easel at the golf course. So, here is my first painting of a covered bridge. This was a great introduction to more covered bridges to come!

“Reflecting Fall” Palette Knife Painting by Niki Gulley

We are loving the peaceful surroundings of Old Orchard Beach, Maine. We booked this picturesque campsite where we have our own dock and lake view. This morning we woke up to this serene scene, and of course, I just had to paint it! Golden light illuminating the beginnings of fall with a gentle ripple causing the reflections to meld into a beautiful symphony of colors.
