Textured Purple Clematis Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Clematis” ©2023 Niki Gulley
10″ x 12″ Textured Oil on Panel

I liked the contrast of the cool purple in the flowers against the warm light of the textured wall behind them. Accentuating the circular design they were forming along with creating curving paint strokes, adds to a feeling of movement and energy, almost as if the petals are dancing in the breeze.

Painting continues around the edges so that it can be hung without a frame.

Once more sunflowers are the vibrant burst of joy that are continuing to bring happiness into my day. I love going by the window and seeing them in the backyard to greet me. It is almost like they are smiling and waving to me.

New “Melting Blue” Bluebonnet Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

“Melting Blue”  ©2020 Niki Gulley • 12″ x 12″ textured oil painting on 1.5″ wrap around canvas with the painting continuing around the edges

This is part of a new series of paintings that I am doing that incorporates a couple of different techniques, from thicker paint applied with palette knife   along with drips and swirls. This gives the painting even more of a 3D feel that just comes alive and jumps off the page.

I have tried to make the most of my time at home this summer, so I have spent plenty of days painting in my garden. My plants have been a flowering explosion of color this year and I have loved every minute that I was able to revel in their beauty.
