The Indian Paintbrush was blazing in the sun behind the Bluebonnets and gave them a great color separation. It is one of things that I look for when I am selecting an area to paint.

With such a rich kaleidoscope of hues from the Texas wildflowers, I am like a kid in a candy store every time I go out. The interplay of color between the Indian Paintbrush, Bluebonnets and assorted other wildflowers allows me to stretch the spectrum in this natural palette.

Along with a great carpet of Bluebonnets this year, were the varied colors of Indian Paintbrush. I saw everything from orange to pink and red, as well of every color in-between. This provided a great contrast amid the rich blue hues.If you’re interested in purchasing this painting and seeing a close up of its thick texture, just follow this link http://nikigulley.com/texas-blue-3/.

We had one of those perfect years for bluebonnets, just enough water and the right temperatures to make for a bumper crop of flowers. I traveled down to the hill country earlier this year and out to Ennis just recently in order to capture them in all of their dazzling brilliance. If you’re interested in purchasing this painting and seeing a close up of its thick texture, just follow this link http://nikigulley.com/texas-blue-2/.
